A crowd funding campaign has been launched to support Rev. Fulgence, founder of the Burundi Unitarians, to help fund his internship in Saskatoon, and help him establish his UU credentials in Canada. Here’s the link to the CanadaHelps.org page of the Unitarian Congregation of Saskatoon, where he is residing. Follow instructions there to ensure you get a receipt for Canadian tax purposes.

Our minister at the UU Church of Olinda died peacefully Friday night, August 7, 2015, around midnight in the Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. The Sunday service on August 9 at the church, entitled “Celebrating a 14-year Legacy at UU Olinda,” was an informal reflection and celebration of her time as minister at Olinda. A memorial service will be held for Reverend Hillman in Detroit on Saturday, August 22 at 6pm at the Northwest UU church in Southfield, MI. Reverend Krista Taves will officiate. We plan for an additional memorial service to be held in Olinda the coming weeks. Once an obituary is published, we will copy or link to it here.

Rev. Hillman is being treated in Michigan for a cancerous growth. As a result, some changes have been made in the schedule. The afternoon teas with the minister have been cancelled in June, and the Sunday service on May 31 is to be given by Dr. Wilf Innerd on “The Joy of Heresy”. The Board and congregation of the UU Church of Olinda send their loving wishes for Christine’s full and speedy recovery.
Update on July 27, Rev. Christine Hillman’s condition is getting worse. The cancer treatment was not effective and Rev. Hillman is now in the care of Hospice. The Sunday Service on August 9 will reflect on the growth and evolution of the church over the past 14 years under the leadership and guidance of Reverend Hillman.
